Mombasa Police have refuted claims that a matatu carrying passengers lost control and plunged into the Indian ocean at Nyali Bridge Yesterday morning.
Coast regional Traffic Commander Mr Martin Kariuki however said, a Toyota surf vehicle speeding to town was trying to overtake a salon car when it lost control and hit the bars at the bridge.
Kariuki said the accident happened early Sunday morning at around 2am.
He denied reports going round on social media that a matatu carrying passenger lost control plunging into the ocean with more than 14 lives lost.
The incident caused a major traffic snarl up along the busy Nyali bridge highway.
