Linus Kaikai was carjacked as he entered his house in Rongai on Thursday night, but was dumped by the carjackers near a police station.
Kaikai had slight injuries on his head. He was taken to a nearby hospital, treated, and discharged.
Additionally, Kenyan police went after the hijackers, Inspector General David Kimaiyo said.
“I mobilized and coordinated with my officers where we trailed his hijackers to Kiserian town,” said Kimaiyo via Twitter.
Many Kenyans were hung on the fate of Kaikai, who describes himself on his Twitter profile as a passionate journalist, a soccer fanatic, and a devoted family man, among other descriptions.
Dennis Onsarigo, a journalist with KTN, said the rescue happened around 1:17 a.m.
