Is OLX a Scam Website

31/07/2013
OLX has responded to one of the major problems that customers and sellers posting ads on this growing website have experienced. This happened with some people creating fake ads to con people.
This is the how OLX has responded to their esteemed customers.
It must have been disappointing dealing with such people on our site. We apologize for that experience. We have blocked the accounts and telephone numbers of the people you have identified as conducting fraudulent activities. OLX is a free online classifieds site that connects Buyers with Sellers and your safety and protection is very important to us. Before any ad is published on our site, it goes through a number of quality checks including the Seller's credibility. Like any other market place, whether it is online or offline, we always need to take precaution when dealing with both buyers and sellers.

Certain “buyers” and “sellers” will always keep trying to come up with new ways of cheating the system. That is why we give consumers fundamental principles of buying and selling as tips on how to safely transact on OLX.

We communicate these tips through our Help Page on the site, social media and radio. For example in this particular instance, we always advise our users not to transfer money until they have viewed the item and are happy with it.
They have given help links here as they continue helping their customers
If you are in doubt of a Seller’s credibility, please don’t hesitate to contact us on this link: http://www.olx.co.ke/contacts.php.
