Uknown people went to a muslim cemetery at Mamburu in Magarini district, KIlifi County at night and torched the place leaving it blazing.
The cemetery, which hosts the tombs of prominent Muslim scholars was set on fire at around 11pm.
The motive for the arson is yet to be established by the police.
A local Madrassa teacher, Aarif Sharrif Mohammed, said the fire was spotted by a locals who alerted them.
Sharrif said they rushed to the cemetery but the fire had already destroyed the graves.
The locals have condemned the incident, which they described as a terrorist attack.
