Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Lions successfully retained the Safaricom
Mombasa Driftwood Sevens lon Sunday evening at the Mombasa Sports Club.
This was the third tournament in Kenya Rugby Union national sevens circuit.
KCB were no doubt superior to their opponents Kenya Harlequin  before
handing them a 12-5 beating to retain the Main Cup silverware for the
second year running in a tensed final match.
Dawin Mukhisa was the Maker of the first try after he sprinted with
the ball from centre pitch to ensure his side held on to a 5-0 lead on
the stroke of half time. However, Edwin Salama made no mistake with the
conversion to take the tally to 7-0.
KCB put the issues beyond doubt after Benjamin Ogema easily touched
down in the opening minutes of the second half but Fabian Olado missed
the conversion as the score stood at 12-0.
Quins bounced back with a try through Eden Agero in the fourth
minutes into the second half  but Felix Khayange missed the conversion.
repeat final
The two teams met in last year’s Driftwood final at the same venue
where KCB Lions won 17-10 in a tough final. Mombasa Senator Hassan Sarai
 Omar was the chief guest.
In the Main Cup semi-final, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) edged out
Kabras Sugar 14-7 after scoring two tries and successfully converted
them while Kabras had one try, which they also converted.
